Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette recently invited teammates, including quarterback Bryce Young, to his hometown of Mullins, South Carolina, to experience his country lifestyle. The event, which included a trail ride and a dinner featuring local fare like raccoon, was documented and highlighted Legette's deep connection to his roots.
Legette expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the importance of his teammates experiencing his community and the people who shaped him. "The best thing really in my eyes about the whole situation was them boys being able to come in my community," Legette told OutKick. "People in my community being able to see other people other than me... Because they always see me."
His teammates, including fellow receiver David Moore, sampled dishes such as raccoon. Young departed before the meal was fully prepared. Legette, who was drafted by the Panthers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, has become a popular figure, partly due to viral moments and his genuine personality. He hopes to give back to his hometown, a place he still considers home.
Beyond football, Legette has also partnered with Bojangles for a Halloween-themed promotion. The collaboration features his horse, Dime Piece, and limited-edition haunted house packaging for the Bojangles Bite Box. Legette noted his excitement for the partnership, which aligns with his love for horses and his country upbringing.
Legette's rural upbringing and unique hobbies have resonated with fans, contributing to his growing popularity. He has shared experiences such as riding horses, fishing, and participating in trail rides with friends and family when not engaged with his NFL career.
