Palm Beach International Airport, located near Donald Trump's Florida residence, has been officially renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport. As of Thursday, July 9, 2026, the airport's three-letter code designation is DJT, according to an alert from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued Wednesday evening.
The renaming follows a law signed in March by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to honor the 45th and 47th President. While the FAA code has changed, the airport's existing code, PBI, will continue to be used for reservations, ticketing, and baggage tags until August 18, according to the airport's website.
Eric Trump celebrated the renaming, stating that Trump Force One was the first plane to land at the airport after its redesignation. He expressed pride in seeing "DJT" on his boarding pass, calling it an incredible honor for his father. Donald Trump Jr. and his wife, Bettina Trump, were also present on the tarmac.
The newly named airport handles approximately eight million travelers annually. Palm Beach County commissioners approved a licensing agreement for the use of Trump's name, which the Trump Organization has trademarked. The agreement prohibits the Trumps from earning royalties from the name, but permits the airport to use his name and image in advertising.
Road signs leading to the airport have already been updated. Previously, proposals to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after Trump were put forth by House Republicans in 2024, but did not gain traction. The United States has 12 airports named after presidents, including New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport. Trump has also sought to have his name placed on New York City's Penn Station, a proposal that faced Democratic opposition.
