The village of Piddington in Oxfordshire is scheduled to vote on secession from the United Kingdom on Tuesday, following notification that it will soon house more than 1,250 asylum seekers.

The asylum seekers, described as young, single, and undocumented males, are expected to be housed in a former Ministry of Defence site located on the outskirts of the village. Residents have expressed concerns about the impact of the influx, with a group called 'Women of Piddington' sending a letter to female Members of Parliament highlighting that the asylum seekers would outnumber the village's current population significantly.

The decision on whether Piddington should pursue independence is to be put to a village vote. The Daily Mail has also initiated a poll to gauge public opinion on the matter and invited readers to join a group chat to discuss the issue further.
