Authorities are implementing extensive crowd control measures, including mounted police and multi-jurisdictional support, for the highly anticipated Ole Miss-LSU football game due to heightened tensions surrounding former coach Lane Kiffin.
Oxford, Mississippi, is preparing for an unusually intense game day as Lane Kiffin makes his return to the city as the head coach of LSU for a matchup against Ole Miss. The highly anticipated SEC football rivalry game on Saturday has prompted significant security enhancements, including the deployment of mounted police units and increased patrols.
The heightened security presence is a direct response to the anticipated reception for Kiffin, who previously coached Ole Miss. City officials and law enforcement agencies have collaborated for months to plan for the event, anticipating a charged atmosphere.
To manage potential crowd issues, the Mobile Police Department's Mounted Unit will be in Oxford from Thursday through Saturday.
