The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a significant recall impacting approximately 1.75 million Cuisinart metal wire-bristle grill brushes. The recall, initiated ahead of the busy Fourth of July grilling season, follows numerous reports of the brushes' metal bristles detaching and posing an ingestion hazard.

According to the CPSC, the manufacturer, Conair, has received at least 54 reports detailing the bristles falling off the brushes. In three of these incidents, consumers reportedly swallowed the loose metal pieces, necessitating medical intervention for their removal. The CPSC warned that the ingestion of these bristles could result in serious internal injuries requiring surgery.

The recalled brushes are described as baton-shaped and come with black plastic, stainless steel, or wooden handles. They were sold nationwide starting in 2009. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled brushes to prevent potential harm.
