Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning engaged in a back-and-forth with a reporter regarding the absence of senior quarterback Dante Moore from media availability following the team's unexpected 39-31 loss to Oklahoma State. Moore was not present for the postgame press conference.

Lanning stated that Moore was dealing with dehydration and received two IV treatments after the game, which accounted for his absence. "I don’t think he chose not to," Lanning said during his press conference on Monday. "Did you know he was getting two IVs after the game? He was dehydrated. He’ll be speaking to you guys tomorrow. Any question that you want to ask him, you can certainly ask him."

The coach further explained that Moore was also managing cramping on the field and had to catch a bus and a flight. Lanning questioned whether a reporter could conduct an interview while receiving medical treatment. When asked why the information about Moore's condition was not relayed to the media immediately after the game, Lanning appeared defensive, asking, "Well, should it be?"

The exchange came after Oregon's surprising loss to an Oklahoma State team that was in a rebuilding phase and had suffered a loss to Tulsa the week prior. Oregon had been considered a national championship favorite at the start of the season. Moore completed 14 of 29 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns in the game.
