An Ohio man, Tycen Proper, 19, faces accusations of plotting a terrorist attack at the White House during the UFC Freedom 250 event, which took place on June 14. According to authorities, Proper had amassed a substantial stockpile of weapons, ammunition, and tactical gear for the alleged plot.
The FBI became aware of the attack plan on June 10 and, in collaboration with local law enforcement, made arrests. A report from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office details Proper's alleged expenditures and acquisitions.
Arsenal and Purchases
Officials stated that Proper spent approximately $3,000, described as his "graduation money," on acquiring supplies. His acquisitions included an AR-15 5.56 caliber rifle purchased on January 13, and a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun, painted with an American flag motif, bought on June 5. The shotgun was reportedly fitted with a red dot optic, and the AR-15 featured a similar sight with a magnifier.
Beyond the firearms, the alleged stockpile included three plate carriers equipped with .308-rated ballistic plates, a tactical bump helmet, and a battle belt with loaded ammunition pouches. Proper also allegedly possessed 13 loaded AR-15 magazines, over 1,000 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, numerous 12-gauge shells (including buckshot and rifled slugs), multiple knives, a hatchet, two tactical headsets, chemical lights, a compass, and extensive medical trauma gear such as tourniquets, emergency bandages, and gauze. This arsenal was reportedly stored at a family member's residence.
Online Connections and Parental Alert
Proper's father informed investigators that his son had quit his job to connect with individuals he met online, with whom he engaged in shared "missions" and "recons." Proper's mother alerted authorities to his firearm purchases and online activities. In a 911 call, she stated, "We took all the guns and ammo out of his room and got it off our property." She added that her son was likely unaware the items had been removed from his room.
Authorities allege that the plot involved at least 12 suspects across the United States who adhered to an accelerationist ideology, seeking to dismantle American capitalism. The firearms and gear were acquired prior to the June 14 UFC event.
