Odell Beckham Jr. is aiming to wear his familiar No. 13 jersey upon his return to the New York Giants, a number currently held by Jalin Hyatt, who is on the team's practice squad.
Beckham, who began his NFL career with the Giants, previously wore No. 13. He retained the number during his tenure with the Cleveland Browns before switching to No. 3 for his Super Bowl-winning stint with the Los Angeles Rams and subsequent seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. He is currently listed with No. 3 for his return to the Giants.
"I think we all know what that means to me, and there definitely will be some conversations," Beckham told reporters on Monday. "I'll just say we'll see what happens, but like I said, it would be an honor and a privilege to put that back on."
Hyatt, a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, was assigned No. 13. He has recorded 36 catches for 470 yards and no touchdowns in 41 games. Beckham was elevated to the Giants' 53-man roster ahead of the team's 2026 season opener against the Dallas Cowboys following an injury to Calvin Austin III.
During his first five seasons with the Giants from 2014 to 2018, Beckham amassed 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns. He expressed confidence in his ability to contribute at a high level despite his career path through multiple teams including the Browns, Rams, Ravens, and Dolphins through the 2024 season. He is not expected to be the primary receiving option, with Malik Nabers anticipated to fill that role upon returning to full health. The Giants' receiving corps also includes Darius Slayton, Malachi Fields, and Darnell Mooney. Second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart will lead the offense.
