MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell has criticized former President Donald Trump's approach to international negotiations, particularly concerning the ongoing tensions with Iran. O'Donnell argued that Trump's initial claims of a swift resolution to potential conflicts have not materialized, suggesting a lack of strategic clarity.

O'Donnell pointed to Trump's past statements about a conflict with Iran, which he initially suggested would be resolved within days or weeks. However, months later, the situation remains unresolved. O'Donnell also referenced a statement made by Trump in April on Truth Social, in which he issued a genocidal threat against Iran, only to later announce a suspension of attacks. According to O'Donnell, this sequence of events led the global community to question Trump's ability to manage and conclude such conflicts.

"And from that moment forward, the world knew that the clownish man who started this war did not know how to wage this war and did not know how to negotiate an end to this war," O'Donnell stated. He further suggested that Trump's recent threats against civilian infrastructure, which could constitute war crimes, have diminished his credibility as a negotiator.

"And there is the master negotiator at work, for the voters who believed they were electing a master negotiator," O'Donnell said, adding that Trump is "the single stupidest public negotiator in the history of American government and the whole world knows it." He expressed skepticism that even Trump's perceived allies, such as some on Fox News, can continue to believe his claims of direct communication with the Iranian regime.
