The Detectives' Endowment Association (DEA), a union representing NYPD detectives, is demanding a "house cleaning" at the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) after surfacing social media posts by one of its investigators. Amadee Bility, a CCRB investigator, allegedly compared police officers to the Ku Klux Klan in a 2020 Facebook post.

The union revealed screenshots of the posts Friday, calling them "disgraceful" and asserting that Bility has no place investigating police officers. One post, according to the union, read: “The reason u don’t see cops shutting down KKK rallies is the same reason u don’t see hannah montana and miley cyrus sitting in the same room.” Another post included an image of a person in a police uniform kissing another person, captioned: “Cops when Trump supporters break into the U.S. Capitol building.”

CCRB spokesman Dakota Gardner stated that the agency takes allegations of bias "extremely seriously" and is investigating the matter. An interview Bility was scheduled to conduct with a detective this week has been postponed pending the outcome of the investigation. A city source indicated that Bility was previously an NYPD Explorer, a program for teenagers interested in law enforcement.

This incident is not the first time CCRB investigators have faced scrutiny for their online activity. In May, the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) also highlighted anti-police posts made by several CCRB investigators. The DEA President, Scott Munro, issued a statement declaring that the union would not permit detectives to be interviewed by an investigator he described as hating cops and pushing a "disgusting narrative."
