A New York City man known as a wannabe rapper has been sentenced to two years in prison for the torture and killing of a cat. David Mosley, 26, who performed under the alias Church of Ububal, pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals on July 10.

Mosley was sentenced on Monday after admitting to the crime, which he committed inside his Bronx apartment. In October 2025, he posted disturbing images on his Instagram page, including one depicting a cat lying in a pool of blood. Prosecutors stated that Mosley had initially appeared with the cat, which was alive, in an Instagram post on October 11, 2025. Just over a week later, the subsequent images of the deceased animal surfaced.

Authorities searched Mosley's residence, and testing confirmed the presence of feline blood. When questioned by law enforcement, Mosley claimed he had found the cat after its death. Sources at the time suggested the killing was intended to promote Mosley's music career.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark condemned the act, stating, "This defendant committed a crime that shocked and outraged the community. For reasons known only to him he tortured and killed a cat and then posted disturbing images of the dead animal on social media. He has been held accountable for what he did."

In addition to the prison sentence, Bronx Supreme Court Justice Laurence Busching has barred Mosley from owning any pets for the next 10 years, a condition that was part of his plea agreement. Mosley had also vowed to perform another killing online before his arrest.
