A 62-year-old man has died weeks after being punched during a fight in the Bronx, according to authorities and sources.
Ming Zhang, of Queens, was punched during a confrontation with Carlos Valentin, 27, on June 12. The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. in front of a rental building on Walton Avenue near East Mount Eden Avenue in the Concourse neighborhood.
Zhang sustained a gash on his head from the blow and was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was initially in critical condition. He died on Tuesday, police said.
Valentin, who did not know the victim, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He was awaiting arraignment on Wednesday.
Authorities have not yet specified what led to the altercation. The NYPD and the Bronx District Attorney's office are conferring to determine if the charges against Valentin will be upgraded.
