Norway's national tourist board has ingeniously leveraged Donald Trump's recent derogatory remarks about the country by launching a promotional campaign focused on its public restrooms.
Trump, speaking at a campaign rally in Michigan, referred to Norway as a "shithouse country," expressing his displeasure with the Norwegian Nobel Committee for not awarding him the Peace Prize. He stated he did not want immigrants from Norway.
In response, Visit Norway shared a curated list of public restrooms on its website, showcasing facilities situated in scenic locations and designed with striking architecture. The campaign playfully adopted Trump's phrasing, asking, "Are these the world’s best shithouses?" and mockingly adding, "Norway makes shithouses great again!" This slogan mirrors Trump's signature "Make America Great Again" campaign cry.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee operates independently of the Norwegian government, a fact that was not addressed in Trump's public statements.
