Norfolk Police Commissioner Colin Sutton is reconsidering his planned 127-date theatre tour, stating he is in discussions to potentially curtail or cancel the performances.

Sutton acknowledged that the public reaction from constituents, received via social media and emails, had been unexpected and prompted a re-evaluation of the tour. "That's made me think about it again," he said. "I don't want anything to interfere with the job that I've got to do."

One proposed adjustment was to limit the tour to venues local to Norfolk. Sutton also suggested that virtual appearances via platforms like Microsoft Teams or internet-based meetings could be an alternative to in-person shows. However, he conceded that the tour might become a moot point if it jeopardizes public confidence in his ability to perform his duties effectively.

The tour, which was scheduled to run from January to November, was not something Sutton mentioned to voters during his election campaign. He denied letting them down.

Sutton is scheduled to appear before a Norfolk police and crime panel on February 2, with a performance in Leeds later that same evening.
