Nick Reiner, who has been held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles since his December 2025 arrest, is reportedly undergoing a rapid physical and psychological decline, according to an insider close to the family. Reiner, 32, is awaiting trial for the alleged murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner.

An interview with the Daily Mail published Wednesday quoted a source stating that Reiner is "rapidly deteriorating" and "no one would recognize him." The source elaborated that his appearance has changed significantly due to prison conditions, including having his hair kept extremely short to prevent pests and significant weight loss from medication. His eyes are described as "very sunken in."

Psychologically, the insider claimed Reiner is "like a babbling child, totally out of it," making it difficult even for his lawyers to communicate with him. His siblings, Jake and Romy Reiner, are reportedly concerned about his long-term mental state and physical health.

Reiner was arrested in December 2025 after his parents were found stabbed to death at their Brentwood, California, home. His mother was 70 and his father was 79. Reiner has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He faces a potential life sentence without parole or the death penalty.

At the time of the alleged murders, Reiner had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and had a history of drug addiction. Reports indicate he had previously destroyed his parents' home during a drug-fueled incident.

In the days leading up to the deaths, Reiner reportedly had a heated argument with his parents at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien. Sources indicated that Rob Reiner expressed concern about his son's "deteriorating" mental state.

Reiner is also seeking access to a $1.5 million trust fund to cover his legal defense fees as his trial approaches.

Previous accounts from former inmates at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility have described the environment as intensely noisy, with constant screaming, and subject to extreme cold and lack of sunlight during winter months.
