Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs entered a no contest plea to one misdemeanor count of battery and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property on Thursday, resolving a case stemming from an alleged violent dispute with his girlfriend. Jacobs appeared in Brown County, Wisconsin, courtroom to enter the plea.
As part of the agreement with prosecutors, Jacobs was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, cover restitution costs, and undergo counseling. He must also abide by a restraining order to stay away from the alleged victim. Jacobs stated in court that he understood the seriousness of the situation and accepted full responsibility.
The charges were filed on August 27, following an incident on May 23 at his Wisconsin home. Prosecutors alleged that Jacobs engaged in a quarrel with his girlfriend after she accused him of speaking with other women. During the altercation, Jacobs allegedly grabbed the woman and threw her to the ground, causing an injury. A portion of the incident was reportedly captured on surveillance video.
Jacobs was initially arrested on May 26 related to the allegations. Prosecutors initially opted not to file charges, seeking additional evidence. He was subsequently placed on the commissioner's exempt list on August 30, which prevented him from practicing or playing for the Packers. It remains unclear how the plea deal will impact his current status with the team.
Jacobs joined the Packers in 2024 after five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.
