CNN, MS NOW, and Politico announced their intention to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Monday, seeking to restore press access to the White House. The outlets stated their goal is to protect First Amendment rights and the public's right to independent journalism free from government interference.

In a joint statement, the news organizations said their journalists' credentials were revoked without notice or process because the administration objected to their reporting. They argue that leaving this action unchallenged threatens press freedom and independent journalism.

President Donald Trump had previously suggested that news outlets should not be permitted to publish what he characterized as "FICTION and LIES" when reporting on the administration. Speaking to reporters at an event in the Oval Office, Trump stated, "I don't have to let them into my, into the people's house."

The White House revoked the credentials of reporters from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico after the President's comments. This action has led to concerns about the administration's relationship with the press and the potential for further restrictions on media access.
