New York City experienced significant disruptions on Saturday afternoon as heavy downpours triggered flash flood warnings across all five boroughs. The severe thunderstorms led to ground stops at LaGuardia Airport and substantial delays at John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

The rain began around noon, prompting the National Weather Service to issue flood advisories for much of the city. Mayor Zohran Mamdani advised residents to avoid travel, stating, “Don’t risk your safety in these dangerous conditions.”

According to Pix11, delays at JFK and Newark airports approached two hours. The weather system brought severe thunderstorms to the region, creating hazardous conditions for commuters and travelers.
