A new mobile game, "No 10: Full Confidence," is offering players a chance to step into the shoes of a prime minister, navigating the complex world of political maneuvering and public opinion. The game recently climbed the UK App Store's paid games chart, ranking above titles like Monopoly Go and even Minecraft.
The game simulates the challenges of leading a country, with players facing scenarios that test their decision-making abilities. One such scenario involves a mysterious "Nuclear Situation" in Wales, where sheep near a facility are exhibiting unusual behavior, framed with a dry, satirical tone.
Beyond direct simulation, other games explore different facets of political engagement. "Fantasy Parliament" is a browser-based game where players draft their own fantasy league of real-world Members of Parliament, earning points based on their media coverage. This game also features a "Policy Tester" that uses a ChatGPT-style AI model to simulate how various voter groups might react to proposed policies.
Looking ahead, "UK Politics Simulator," developed by Black Cannon Games, is slated for release later this year on PC. This simulator is built using real UK data, extending down to the ward level, promising a detailed and data-driven political experience.
The creator of "No 10: Full Confidence," who requested not to be named, stated that while he doesn't know if politicians themselves have played his game, feedback from friends in the civil service suggests it accurately reflects the often-chaotic nature of UK political life, with one remarking, "It's exactly like this, but worse."
