Newly released footage offers a chilling account of the mass shooting at an In-N-Out restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, where a gunman killed three people before taking his own life. The video, released by police, shows employees reacting to the gunfire and the sequence of events that unfolded on a Saturday evening.

Chad Williams, 24, opened fire with an AK-style rifle at the restaurant, targeting customers and employees. The newly released body-camera and surveillance footage depicts staff members in their red aprons diving to the floor and shielding each other amid the chaos.

According to police narration of the footage, Williams' attack began in the drive-thru. He is seen pulling up to the payment window in a white Honda Civic and shooting his first victim, 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, who later died from her injuries. Williams then proceeded through the drive-thru and approached another vehicle, shooting a second victim, 59-year-old Christopher Claunch, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An off-duty Idaho State Police trooper intervened, rushing toward the sound of gunfire. He encountered Williams and was shot but managed to flee the immediate area. The trooper, identified as Austin James, later returned to his vehicle and was transported to a hospital. Williams then returned to the drive-thru window, firing into the restaurant. His handgun jammed, prompting him to retrieve a rifle from his car.

The footage then shifts to the interior of the restaurant, showing at least eight employees taking cover on the floor. The off-duty trooper is seen inside, armed and directing employees to safety. Williams, now armed with a rifle, fired at patrons from outside the restaurant. The ISP trooper returned fire. Williams then shot a fourth victim, a person assisting the wounded inside.

The gunman continued his attack outside the restaurant, shooting individuals at a nearby Tesla charging station and striking a second Tesla, killing Dale Schultz and injuring his passenger. Williams then moved to a neighboring visitor's center, where three individuals were seeking shelter. An employee at the visitor's center confronted Williams, distracting him and allowing others to escape. This employee was able to flee as officers converged on Williams, who then died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Jordan Salinas, 35, also intervened by firing a semi-automatic pistol at Williams. Salinas stated that the 2021 shooting at the Boise Towne Square Mall influenced his decision to be prepared, leading him to practice shooting. He described feeling a need to protect against attacks on "soft targets."

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Williams' family is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, which involves multiple local police departments and the FBI. The In-N-Out location in Twin Falls had recently opened prior to the incident.
