New CCTV footage has emerged that family members say contradicts the accounts provided by prison officers following the death of Allan Marshall. Marshall died after being restrained by officers at a UK prison.

The footage shows Marshall entering a shower room at 07:29, after which there is a gap in the recording due to a lack of cameras within the shower area. Officers are seen entering the shower room at 07:48, at which point the restraint began. Previous footage depicted Marshall being dragged from the shower room, face down, by multiple officers and restrained by up to 17 individuals, some of whom used their feet.

Sharon MacFadyen, Marshall's aunt and a long-time advocate for his case, stated that the new footage does not support the officers' initial claims that Marshall was agitated, aggressive, and covered in excrement. "If he was kicking off or if he was fighting fair enough, but he's doing what he's told," MacFadyen told BBC News.

MacFadyen suggests that Marshall, who had activated his emergency buzzer multiple times during the night, may have annoyed officers and was taken to the shower room as a disciplinary measure. "There's no cameras or anything. Since you don't know what went on in there we've only got their word for it," she said, highlighting the absence of cameras inside the shower room and reliance on officers' testimony for events that occurred there.
