Nearly 90,000 people have been advised to evacuate their homes as a fast-moving wildfire approaches Reno, Nevada, officials reported Sunday. Approximately 42,000 residents were ordered to leave immediately, with an additional 45,000 urged to prepare for potential evacuation.

The fire, which ignited Saturday morning, has scorched an estimated 10,500 acres and remains 0% contained. Windy and unpredictable weather conditions are exacerbating the fire's spread. Six individuals have been injured, including three emergency responders.

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has declared a state of emergency in Washoe County, deploying the National Guard to assist local fire and law enforcement agencies. "This is an active and rapidly evolving situation and I urge everyone in the affected areas to remain vigilant and follow the direction of local officials," Lombardo stated.

Local emergency services reported that around 13,700 homes are located within the evacuation zone. Two shelters have been established to accommodate displaced residents. The fire was determined to be human-caused and was first reported at 11:15 local time on Saturday.
