Three neighbors are being hailed as heroes for rescuing an 87-year-old woman from a house fire, a dramatic incident that has forged an unexpected bond between them. The fire, which occurred at a residence and was later determined to be accidental, prompted the swift actions of the neighbors who utilized a doorbell camera's intercom to gain entry and assist the woman.

According to reports, the neighbors had to wake the woman, identified as Day, from her bed. One of the rescuers, Smart, described the initial moments: "She looked at me like I was going to rob her or something, but I got her out of bed." He added that he and another neighbor, Pav, "got her down, slowly, but in time."

The family of the rescued woman expressed profound gratitude, with her son, Wright, stating, "Those people saved my mum's life, without question." He estimated that his mother would have had only a few minutes at most before the situation became unsuril. Wright also commented on the positive impact of the event, noting, "When people are that amazing, people who barely know each other, the world isn't all bad."

In a lighthearted appeal, Wright suggested that King Charles should knight his mother's neighbors, calling them "amazing."

Firefighters from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene within seven minutes of the initial call. A spokesperson confirmed that the blaze was accidental. While acknowledging the neighbors' commendable intentions, the fire service issued a cautionary statement. "We would urge the public not to enter buildings that are on fire, for any reason, as doing so endangers more lives," the spokesperson advised. "Smoke inhalation can quickly disorientate, injure and incapacitate."

The incident, while highlighting a dangerous situation, has also brought the neighbors closer. Smart remarked on the newfound camaraderie, saying, "These guys I've only seen in the street, I don't really know them. We will say hello now more than we ever did before." He added a sentiment of mutual care, stating, "And I know if it was my grandad or parents, somebody would do it for mine."
