A naked man was arrested in Fresno, California, on Wednesday after he was discovered hiding in the ceiling of a plasma donation center. The man refused to comply with officers' commands and engaged in a confrontation before being taken into custody.
Police were called to the Grifols Biomat USA Plasma Center at Blackstone and Dakota following reports of someone inside the building's walls or ceiling. A patient donating plasma alerted staff after seeing a pair of eyes looking down from the ceiling.
Responding officers found a 30-year-old man inside the ceiling space. According to police, he refused to exit his hiding place and threw objects at officers, including what appeared to be a pipe that narrowly missed one officer's head. The man also broke a pipe, causing flooding within the building.
After repeated attempts to coax the man out, officers deployed pepper balls. When he eventually emerged, he was unclothed. He was then taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.
The incident prompted the evacuation of 41 people from several adjacent businesses in the strip mall, including Joyride Insurance Company, Leslie’s Pool Supplies, Planet Fitness, and a hair salon, due to pepper spray migration.
The man faces multiple charges, including felony vandalism, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon. The motive for his actions remains unclear.
