A Las Vegas Valley family narrowly escaped a devastating house fire on July 5, thanks to the intervention of a mysterious stranger. The blaze erupted at the home of Danna Shabtai just before 5 a.m. on July 5.
Shabtai recounted that an unknown man began banging frantically on her front door, yelling "Fire!" and alerting her and her family to the danger. Surveillance video footage shows the man, clad in dark clothing and wearing a hat, repeatedly striking the door as flames began to spread rapidly. Home security cameras also captured intense flames engulfing the backyard of the property.
Shabtai stated that she had gone to bed after confronting children who were setting off fireworks near her residence on July 4. Hours later, she was awakened by persistent doorbell ringing and knocking. Her dog began barking, prompting her to investigate the commotion at the door. Upon opening it, she encountered the stranger who urgently warned her of the fire and pointed towards the rear of the house, where she saw what she described as "a wall of orange."
As the fire intensified, Shabtai's sister attempted to combat the flames with a garden hose, while Shabtai quickly grabbed her one-year-old son and ran to alert her neighbors. She banged on their windows and pounded on their doors until everyone inside was safely evacuated.
Meanwhile, the unidentified man retrieved a garden hose from a neighboring property and attempted to contain the blaze. "So not only did he wake us up, he was trying to put out the fire with my sister," Shabtai told Fox News Digital, expressing her profound gratitude for his actions.
Shabtai has posted images of the man on social media, hoping to identify him so she can personally thank him for saving her family's lives. "You're an angel. You saved our lives, and I'm really thankful for everything that you did," she said to Fox 5 Las Vegas. "You didn't have to stop. You could have driven by and said, probably someone already called it in. But no, you took the time, and you woke us up, and you're a hero."
