David Braddon, who is serving a life sentence for the 2015 murder of Conner Marshall, has been given an additional prison sentence for crimes committed while incarcerated. Braddon was sentenced to three years and seven months for possessing a mobile phone in prison and for the acquisition, use, or control of criminal property, specifically money.
New Charges Add to Existing Sentence
This new sentence will be added to the minimum term Braddon is already serving for the murder. The judge stated that the additional time would extend his overall period of incarceration. Braddon was originally jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years for killing Conner Marshall.
Accomplices Also Sentenced
Two other individuals, Jones and Griffiths, were sentenced to two years and nine months each for their roles in Braddon's criminal activities. Another individual, Graham, received a one-year and six-month sentence, suspended for two years, and must complete 20 days of rehabilitation.
Impact on Victim's Family
During the proceedings, the mother of Conner Marshall, Nadine, read a victim impact statement in court. She described her distress upon learning of Braddon's new crimes, stating her stomach dropped and she experienced nausea and flashbacks. She revealed that she had been diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and was on medication. The custody photo of Braddon brought back painful memories from the time of her son's murder. Braddon interjected from the dock, offering an apology: "I'm sorry. I truly am sorry. I am."
