Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego was placed on lockdown Monday morning as law enforcement responded to a reported threat. "Significant police resources" were deployed to the Rancho Peñasquitos campus while officers investigated the credibility of the threat.

In addition to Mt. Carmel High School, nearby Sunset Hills Elementary and Black Mountain Middle School were also placed in a secure campus mode as a precautionary measure. Staff and students were observed waiting outside the high school campus during the police response.

The school's public address system informed students that their classrooms would be checked by officers. The lockdown situation is developing.
