MS NOW has disputed U.S. Senator John Fetterman's assertion that the network has stopped inviting him to appear on its programs. The network released screenshots of four past appearances by the Pennsylvania Democrat, but Fetterman's office claims these were old and that he has not been invited since March.
Fetterman, a Democrat who has frequently expressed views at odds with the progressive wing of his party, particularly regarding Israel and socialism, told the Washington Examiner that he believes MS NOW "won't invite me on." He added that he prefers to speak on news networks that "play things straight," contrasting them with MS NOW, which he referred to as its former name, MSNBC.
"I don’t know why," Fetterman stated regarding the perceived lack of invitations. "I’m a committed Democrat. I’m not sure what their editorial issue is with."
He described the situation as "really strange" for a Democratic senator who aligns with the network's general platform on most issues.
A spokesperson for MS NOW told The Post that Fetterman's claim is "inaccurate." In a social media post, the network's public relations team shared four screenshots showing Fetterman participating in discussions with "Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, as well as anchor Katy Tur.
A representative for Fetterman's office countered that the provided screenshots were from previous years, including two from the prior year, and that the senator's most recent appearance was in March. "Showing old materials because they have nothing new to reference isn’t the mic drop MS NOW thinks it is," the representative told The Post.
According to an analysis by The Washington Examiner, Fetterman has appeared on Fox News at least 56 times this year and on CNN 13 times during the same period.
Fetterman has been vocal in his criticism of what he perceives as a drift away from supporting Israel within the Democratic Party. He has stated that he would consider leaving the party if it officially adopts an anti-Israel platform. "If our party ever becomes – and just makes it official – the anti-Israel party, that’s when I would leave because that’s been a moral clarity for me," he said at the Hill Nation Summit.
He has also criticized fellow Democrats and public figures for stances he views as overly critical of Israel. He recently called New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani a "clown" for suggesting the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, citing Mamdani's comments on the International Criminal Court's warrant. "Obviously, America’s not even part of that corrupt court, and so he’s just a clown to even say that," Fetterman remarked on Fox News.
