Elizabeth Siders, 33, the mother of 16 children found living in squalid conditions, appeared visibly anxious during her booking at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on July 1. New footage obtained by Plunder True Crime shows Siders, clad in a baggy red t-shirt and sweatpants, keeping her head down and seemingly attempting to conceal a dark mark on her left arm as officers conducted the booking process.
In a separate clip, Siders, wearing an orange jumpsuit, is seen fidgeting in a chair and repeatedly fussing with her forearm, at one point appearing to rub the mark against her pant leg. Her attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Discovery of Children
Authorities discovered the 16 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years, living in deplorable conditions at the family's home. Police described the children as having "looked like almost feral animals." The residence was reportedly filled with feces and trash, with the children confined to a cramped space for at least four years. Officials characterized the scene as "deplorable" and "third-world."
Charges and Condition of Children
Elizabeth Siders, her husband Gary Siders Jr., 37, and her in-laws, Gary Siders Sr., 73, and Christina Siders, 67, were arrested and each charged with 16 counts of felony child endangerment. Siders is being held on a $300,000 bond.
The children were transported to hospitals across Ohio following their rescue on June 30. Some were reported in serious condition, with two requiring air transport to trauma centers and at least one needing intubation. Siders has denied that her children, who did not attend school, were "feral," stating they could all speak despite initial reports suggesting otherwise.
