The Connecticut State Police have identified two of the three sets of skeletal remains found in a Burlington home as Sally Ann Cash, 54, and her son, Brian Cash, 22. The remains were discovered by the property's new owner on June 14, shortly after purchasing the house at a foreclosure auction on June 6.

The identity of the third set of remains is still unknown, and the cause of death for all three individuals has not yet been determined. Authorities have stated that there is no indication of suspicious activity at the residence and no danger to the public.

The home, which was purchased by the Cashes in 2019, went into foreclosure after mortgage payments stopped in December 2024. Utilities had reportedly been shut off for months prior to the discovery. A Connecticut Marshal had attempted to serve foreclosure notices in August 2025 but was unable to make contact, encountering an overgrown property that was difficult to access.

Neighbors had not seen the residents for years, and the property appeared to have been abandoned for at least a year. The foreclosure process continued with notices mailed to a UPS store post office box, and the Cashes did not respond or appear in court.

The property was sold at auction for $525,000, significantly below its bank appraisal. Detectives from the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
