The individual sought in connection with a parcel bombing in Monaco that injured a sanctioned Ukrainian businessman and a woman with him has been found shot dead in Ukraine, according to reports.

Anastasiia Berezovska, 39, was discovered near Kyiv on Monday night. Two suspects, identified as a current officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) and a former law enforcement officer, have been detained in connection with her death, Ukrainian outlet Pravda reported.

Berezovska was accused of targeting Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, 58, by detonating a makeshift bomb at the entrance to his building in Monaco last Monday. An Interpol "red notice" had been issued for her arrest on charges including attempted murder and placing an explosive device in a public place.

Authorities initially believed a man, seen fleeing the scene in a bucket hat, may have carried out the attack. However, Berezovska allegedly planted an explosive-packed backpack and detonated it remotely. She is reported to have used a car rented in Germany to flee to the French-Italian border, then Switzerland, before returning to Germany.

Yermolaiev and Anna Nasobina, 46, were injured in the blast. Nasobina, who was with her 13-year-old son at the time, reportedly lost her legs.

Yermolaiev, a multi-millionaire based in Monaco, was sanctioned by Kyiv in December 2023, reportedly due to his alcohol business activities in Russian-occupied Crimea. He was previously one of Ukraine's wealthiest tycoons, with interests in commercial real estate, manufacturing, and agriculture. Yermolaiev told Forbes Ukraine in 2017 that he had renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and become a citizen of Cyprus. His eldest son, Artur, was arrested in Cyprus last year on allegations of organizing large-scale fraudulent call centers targeting Europeans.
