Corie Walsh, 40, was held without bail Tuesday on charges of first-degree murder after prosecutors alleged she fatally hung her 2-year-old son, Barrett. Two other children in the home reportedly returned from school to discover the scene and sought help from a neighbor.

Prosecutors stated that the neighbor pulled the boy, Barrett, from a rafter where he was found with a ligature around his neck. The neighbor attempted CPR but was unable to revive the child. The neighbor then found Walsh in a bathroom, where she was allegedly attempting to harm herself, according to NBC 5 Chicago.

Walsh has also been accused by prosecutors of expressing a desire to poison her husband. Her defense attorneys have argued that she was experiencing a psychotic break and should not be held criminally responsible.

Walsh was arrested and is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility. An undated photo posted to Facebook shows Walsh with her family.
