Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has shared a new health update, six weeks after he was hospitalized on June 14. His office initially withheld details about his condition, leading to speculation during his absence from the Senate.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat, publicly urged McConnell to provide a comprehensive update on his health, citing constituent concern and the commitment to transparency required of public officeholders. "Over the last several weeks, Kentuckians have grown increasingly concerned about the current state of your health and wellbeing, and ability to hold office in the United States Senate," Beshear stated in a letter. "As public officeholders, we have made a commitment to our constituents to do our best to represent them and to always be transparent. I believe this requires clear communication about one’s ability to serve."

Earlier this month, McConnell revealed that his hospitalization followed a fall. He stated that his doctors confirmed he did not sustain any broken bones, a concussion, or more serious conditions such as a heart attack or stroke.
