Authorities are investigating the death of Alexandra Hummel, a 36-year-old Missouri nurse, who was found unresponsive in her New London home on June 23. The Ralls County Sheriff's Office has stated that the coroner has ordered an autopsy.

Hummel's husband, Dr. Andrew Hummel, a licensed anesthesiologist, has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with his wife's death. Court records indicate that Dr. Hummel pleaded guilty in March 2026 to assaulting a woman. He was arrested in July 2025 on charges of strangling and striking a woman with whom he had a romantic relationship.

Dr. Hummel is self-employed at Northern Ozark Anesthesia Solutions and most recently worked at Hannibal Regional Hospital. He declined to comment when reached by Fox News Digital. Alexandra Hummel would have celebrated her 37th birthday on July 7.

The investigation into Alexandra Hummel's death is ongoing, and the Ralls County Sheriff's Office has released limited information. The Hannibal Regional Healthcare System has also been contacted by Fox News Digital.
