A 26-year-old Missouri man was apprehended after a pursuit and a dramatic dive off a bridge into Table Rock Lake in an attempt to evade Stone County Sheriff's Office deputies. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 18.
Deputies attempted to stop Gavin Thor Lundgren of Kimberling City around 1:50 a.m. for traveling nearly 75 mph in a 45-mph zone. Instead of pulling over, authorities stated Lundgren led deputies on a pursuit before abandoning his moving vehicle and jumping headfirst off the bridge. The Stone County Sheriff's Office noted that this was a unique evasion tactic and that Lundgren survived the fall.
Following the dive, deputies took Lundgren into custody. During the struggle, Lundgren allegedly headbutted two deputies, resulting in minor injuries for the officers, including facial bruising and cuts. Lundgren has been charged with three counts of third-degree assault on a special victim, felony resisting arrest, resisting arrest by fleeing, and careless driving.
Lundgren is currently being held without bond in the Stone County Jail.
