Sophia Cover, a 16-year-old Florida resident, is safe and en route back to her home state after being found in New Jersey, approximately 1,200 miles from her residence. Cover disappeared from her Golden Gate Estates home in the early hours of July 31, sparking a large-scale search operation involving state and federal authorities.

Her father, Rick Cover, expressed his relief and gratitude on social media, posting a video of himself and his daughter on a plane returning to Florida. "I don’t even know if there are enough words to express the gratitude I feel right now," he wrote on Facebook. "Today, I’m sitting on a plane, bringing Sophia home. After everything that has happened, just being able to look over and see her sitting beside me is something I will never take for granted."

Cover had been missing for over 10 days before resurfacing at a friend's house in New Jersey. While her father confirmed she was found safe, the circumstances surrounding her departure and her time in New Jersey remain unclear. Rick Cover acknowledged these unanswered questions in his statement, promising to share more details in the coming week. "There is a lot to unpack. There are a lot of questions that still need answers, and over the next week I will share more about Sophia’s journey and what happened," he stated. For now, his focus is on reconnecting with his daughter and his family. "But for right now, I’m going to decompress. I’m going to be her dad. I’m going to hug my little girl, get her home to her brothers and sisters, and start getting to the root of how we ended up here so we can begin moving forward."
