Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has become the subject of online ridicule following his performance of dance moves at the Black Entrepreneur State Fair over the weekend. Videos circulating on social media show Frey, dressed in an off-white button-down shirt and gray khakis, attempting to dance to a hip-hop track. His movements, described by observers as stiff and lacking rhythm, drew a significant backlash on platforms like X, formerly Twitter.

Commenters on social media widely criticized the mayor's dancing. User reactions included sentiments such as "This cannot be real life. This is just so sad on an epic scale," and "Is he made of wood?" Another user remarked, "That dance was stiff as a board. Zero rhythm, all effort. Brutal for real."

This is not the first time Mayor Frey's public dancing has attracted attention. Last summer, during a celebration of Somali Independence Day in Minneapolis, he performed a dance that was also met with criticism. During his 2025 reelection campaign, he also showcased dance moves at a campaign event that drew comparisons to an ostrich. Maior Frey's office has not publicly responded to the recent online commentary.
