A mini-mart in Sandwell has been closed for three months following an investigation by the BBC that revealed the sale of illegal substances and a range of other illicit goods. The shop, located at Cradley Market, was found to be involved in the sale of cocaine and cannabis during separate visits by researchers. Additionally, the shop was observed to offer prescription drugs.
Trading Standards reported visiting the premises on 12 separate occasions. During these visits, they seized illegal cigarettes, tobacco, and drugs. The shop had also been flagged as a significant nuisance, with reports of cars illegally parking on double yellow lines outside the premises, groups congregating, and issues related to litter and noise.
Following the BBC's initial report in April, West Midlands Police arrested two individuals on suspicion of involvement in drug dealing connected to shops in Sandwell. These individuals remain on bail as inquiries continue.
