Miley Cyrus has made her first public appearance since the death of her godmother, Dolly Parton, arriving at a Los Angeles studio to work on a forthcoming project. Cyrus was photographed entering the building on Wednesday afternoon, appearing somber.

She was seen wearing an all-black outfit, including an oversized T-shirt, jeans, and flip-flops, with her blonde hair styled in an updo. Cyrus, 33, carried an Erewhon smoothie and was accompanied by two other individuals.

This outing occurred hours after Cyrus addressed Parton's death in an emotional Instagram statement. She wrote, "The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share." Cyrus described their most sacred moments as private and vowed to keep them that way. She indicated a desire to write a song about her grief, stating, "What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong."

Cyrus also shared her feelings of having "an angel by my side," adding that one of their last conversations was about "music and metamorphosis." She concluded her statement by expressing her love for Parton and her desire to make her proud, acknowledging the deep loss felt by Parton's family and friends. "My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things,” Cyrus wrote.

Parton, the celebrated music icon, died at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer. According to a family friend speaking to Page Six, Parton had struggled in the year following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, and had withdrawn from public life. Nikki Lund, who knew Parton through her manager, stated that the singer had experienced "a lot of loss in a short amount of time" following Dean's death in March 2025 and the more recent loss of her brother. Lund, who last saw Parton approximately one month prior to her death, suggested that the accumulated losses may have contributed to a "broken heart."
