Actress Mikey Madison made a striking appearance at the London premiere of "The Social Reckoning," a new film that delves into the story of a Facebook whistleblower. Madison, who stars as Frances Haugen in the film, wore a strapless pale yellow beaded gown from Michael Stewart's Standing Ground collection.
She was joined on the red carpet by co-star Jeremy Allen White, who portrays Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz. The film is described as a companion piece to the 2010 film "The Social Network," which chronicled the founding of Facebook. In "The Social Reckoning," Jeremy Strong takes on the role of Mark Zuckerberg.
The plot centers on Frances Haugen's journey as she enlists the help of reporter Jeff Horwitz to expose guarded secrets within the social network. The film is inspired by the true story of Haugen's whistleblowing and the subsequent "Facebook Files" exposé by The Wall Street Journal.
"The Social Reckoning" is set for release on October 9. Director and writer Aaron Sorkin, who earned an Academy Award for his screenplay for "The Social Network," has returned to the franchise. Sorkin stated that the film's necessity stems from Facebook's pervasive influence, noting that "there isn’t a life that Facebook’s algorithm hasn’t touched, and that influence has shaped everything. So it’s time to say more."
Jesse Eisenberg, who portrayed Mark Zuckerberg in the original film and received an Oscar nomination for his performance, has publicly expressed a lack of interest in being associated with Facebook or its parent company, Meta. Eisenberg has voiced concerns about the company's practices, including the removal of fact-checking and safety measures, and their impact on vulnerable individuals and public discourse.
Other attendees at the premiere included Jenni Falconer, Honey Ross with her boyfriend Gav Murphy, and Edith Bowman.
