Michael Cohen, former fixer for Donald Trump, has revealed that he has mended his relationship with the former president following the conclusion of Trump's New York "hush money" trial. Cohen stated that the reconciliation occurred after Trump learned of criticism Cohen faced from a "far-left group" on his social media platforms for statements that did not align with their ideology.
Cohen, speaking at an event promoting his new role at 770 WABC radio, described how a mutual acquaintance informed Trump about the online attacks against him. According to Cohen, Trump expressed empathy for Cohen's situation. This led Cohen to text Trump, thanking him and suggesting they reconnect. Trump reportedly responded positively, stating, "That would be nice. Let’s do it."
Following this exchange, Cohen met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for a meeting he characterized as "more intimate, more friendly."
Cohen was a key witness in the state Attorney General Letitia James's business fraud case, which resulted in a judgment against Trump for exaggerating his net worth. He also testified in the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg-led "hush money" trial, detailing Trump's alleged involvement in a scheme to pay off Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election to prevent her from speaking about a claimed 2006 sexual encounter.
Cohen's role as a witness had previously positioned him as a figure in anti-Trump circles. However, he stated that his relationship with these groups soured after he pushed back against accusations that Trump maintained contact with Jeffrey Epstein. Cohen denied witnessing any such communication.
Cohen framed his renewed connection with Trump as a "separation" from his previous stance, asserting, "I didn't betray anyone."
