Miami Hurricanes running back Jordan Lyle was arrested in Broward County on Thursday, facing a felony charge of aggravated fleeing or eluding law enforcement, according to court records. The 20-year-old is accused of driving with a "wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property" and "willfully" attempting to evade police.

The arrest comes just days after head coach Mario Cristobal spoke positively about Lyle's performance during the team's training camp. "I see the Jordan Lyle that we saw a year ago in many respects, but with better physical traits," Cristobal said Tuesday. "He is healthy [now], which I think is a really important part. I don't think people really knew the extent of how banged up he was last year and we see the full speed player now. I am really excited about him."

Cristobal also noted Lyle's dedication to strength and conditioning, stating, "Jordan has taken strength and conditioning very seriously and he has certainly improved his change of direction and acceleration and deceleration rates."

Lyle, a rising junior, appeared in six games last season as a backup to ACC rushing leader Mark Fletcher Jr. He suffered an injury in the first game of the season and did not fully recover, playing limited snaps upon his return. In his abbreviated time last year, Lyle had 35 carries for 108 yards and one touchdown. During his freshman season in 2025, he averaged 7.4 yards per carry, accumulating 400 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games.

The university released a statement acknowledging the incident: "We are aware of an incident involving student-athlete Jordan Lyle. As due legal process runs its course, we will have no further comment at this time."
