Two bright meteors were observed streaking across the evening sky in Connecticut as part of the annual Perseid meteor shower. The sightings occurred on August 15 around 8 p.m., with one resident, Lisa LeBron, capturing the event on video from her backyard in Killingly.

LeBron described the objects as looking like "balls of fire ripping through the sky." She noted that while her family was setting up an outdoor movie projector, her children alerted her to the unusual sight.

The Perseid meteor shower is an annual event that occurs each summer. According to NASA, the shower is active from mid-July to late August, with its peak typically around August 12-13. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere. The phenomenon occurs when Earth passes through the trail of dusty space debris left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle.

"I started recording because I’d never seen anything like it," LeBron stated. "I still have no clue what it was. It sort of looked like something on fire falling from the sky, maybe a meteor?"

Despite the initial uncertainty, one of the children playfully reacted with a "Chicken Little"-style exclamation of alarm, while others found the display "very cool."
