Melody Anderson, the actress famed for her roles in 1980s science fiction and action films, was recently photographed on a rare public outing in Los Angeles. Anderson, now 70, was seen dressed casually while grocery shopping, a departure from her well-known on-screen personas.

Anderson gained widespread recognition for her role as Dale Arden in the 1980 film "Flash Gordon." She also appeared alongside Chuck Norris in the 1986 movie "Firewalker" and starred in the NBC series "Manimal" in 1983. Her other television credits include appearances in "Logan's Run" and "Battlestar Galactica."

Her career also included the controversial 1983 film "Policewoman Centerfold" and "Beverly Hills Madam" in 1986. In the 1990s, Anderson portrayed Marilyn Monroe in the 1993 film "Marilyn & Bobby: Her Final Affair."

Anderson stepped away from acting in the mid-1990s, pursuing a career in social work. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University in 1997 and now facilitates therapy groups specializing in addiction and trauma treatment in the Los Angeles and New York areas.

Despite her career change, Anderson has previously expressed a desire to return to acting. In a 2012 interview, she mentioned making "forays into acting again" and hoping to "get back on the screen very soon," taking on parts that would not significantly interfere with her social work. She noted the similarities between acting and therapy, stating that both involve playing different roles and adapting to various situations. Anderson also shared that she chose a career path that could sustain her into her later years, contrasting the financial instability she sometimes experienced as an actress.
