Homicide detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a 73-year-old woman found unresponsive in her inner-city Melbourne home. The woman's son discovered her body in bed at her Fitzroy North residence just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2026, after not hearing from her for several days.
Emergency services were called to the Brooks Crescent home after concerned family members raised the alarm. Neighbors reported that the back door of the residence had been left open, which they found unusual as the woman typically kept her doors locked. Some neighbors also indicated that the woman had not been feeling well in recent weeks.
The woman, described as a Vietnamese migrant who lived alone with her dog, was last seen on CCTV footage outside her home on Wednesday night. The footage showed her being picked up by a female friend for an appointment.
Detectives are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are urging anyone with information or relevant footage from the area to contact Crime Stoppers.
