Megyn Kelly has criticized Sunny Hostin, a co-host of ABC's "The View," for her actions when her son Gabriel was detained for trespassing. Kelly, speaking on her SiriusXM show, stated that Hostin displayed "dripping sanctimony and hypocrisy" by invoking her career and affiliation with "The View" while interacting with police officers.

According to bodycam footage from the incident, Hostin identified herself to officers, saying, "My name is Sunny Hostin and I'm one of the co-hosts of ‘The View’ and I'm a former federal prosecutor." She also mentioned that her son, Gabriel, graduated from Harvard in 2025 and is not typically someone who gets into trouble.

Kelly argued that Hostin, along with her son who attended Harvard, are privileged and that Hostin's comments about white privilege are hypocritical given her own family's status. "No one's above the law, and everyone other than Sunny Hostin is swimming in privilege that she’s very pissed off about," Kelly said.

Gabriel Hostin, 24, was detained on June 16 near Metro-North Railroad tracks in New Rochelle, New York, for criminal trespassing. He told officers he was running and entered the area when he saw an open gate. Police informed him that the offense was arrestable, but they "dimmed down" the consequences due to his cooperation and background, resulting in a trespass violation instead of an arrest.

Gabriel is scheduled to appear in court in New Rochelle on July 31. Sunny Hostin later defended her son in a letter to Westchester Assistant District Attorney Amanda Greene, obtained by TMZ, stating that Gabriel faces "imposing unnecessary consequences" and has "demonstrated exceptional character and achievement."
