Megan Pickford, wife of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, shared glimpses of her match day experience on Instagram, detailing her activities from praying to touching up her makeup. She was seen coordinating her attire with a £7,000 Chanel handbag and a cropped green football shirt, paired with white low-rise trousers.
During the match, Pickford was observed using an electric fan to stay cool as England initially trailed. She was also seen praying and holding her hands to her face during tense moments. Following England's eventual 2-1 victory, secured by two late goals from Harry Kane, Pickford posted on social media, "Prayers were said to the lord tonight."
Pickford's attendance at the match was part of a larger trip during the World Cup, which included a shopping spree in New York. She purchased a £455 football-themed wallet for her husband and also shared insights into snacks she bought for her children. The family is staying in a suite that Pickford likened to the setting of the Disney Channel show "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody."
Her preparation for the matches was nearly derailed when her suitcase was lost by the airline. She documented the ordeal, referring to it as "suitcasegate," and expressed relief upon its eventual return. The incident led to fellow WAG Ellie Watkins offering assistance, and Pickford mentioned plans to purchase an air tag for future travel.
Prior to this, Pickford had also faced challenges with airline luggage. Before an earlier match, her suitcase had not arrived, leading her to wear a seven-year-old top and borrow jeans for the game. She later arranged for her husband's brother to collect her suitcase, which had been held in customs for 24 hours, while she in turn traveled with his luggage.
Beyond personal experiences, Pickford and other WAGs have navigated new regulations regarding handbag sizes at stadiums. Non-clear bags are limited to 4.5in by 6.5in, a rule Pickford acknowledged with a humorous social media post about making "sandwich bags happen." She adhered to these rules during the first match, carrying a white Lady Dior bag valued at over £2,500.
Pickford, who married goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in June 2022, has expressed a desire to revive the "WAG era" atmosphere of the 2006 World Cup. She stated her goal for the current competition is to see her husband return with a trophy.
