CNN, MS NOW, and Politico announced Monday they are filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration to restore their reporters' White House access. The outlets stated that their journalists were denied entry over the weekend without notice or process, which they believe violates First Amendment rights and the public's access to independent journalism.

In a joint statement, the news organizations said, "Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference." The suit aims to prevent the government from deciding which press outlets can report or publish.

President Trump announced Friday that the three outlets were barred "effective immediately" due to what he described as "Fake News" reporting. During an event in the Oval Office, he stated the decision was a result of "cumulative stories over the last two years" and expressed frustration, saying, "You get sick of it."

The White House's decision has drawn criticism from press freedom advocates who argue that such actions undermine the role of a free press in a democracy. The lawsuit marks a significant legal challenge to the administration's handling of press credentials and access.
