McDonald's has launched a new Happy Meal collaboration, uniting Sanrio's "Hello Kitty and Friends" with the legendary monsters of the Godzilla universe. This limited-time promotion features eight collectible toys that blend the worlds of "Kawaii" (cute) characters and "Kaiju" (monsters).

Each Happy Meal includes a choice of McDonald's standard offerings such as a burger or nuggets, accompanied by one of the eight unique toys. The collection represents a crossover where beloved Sanrio characters are reimagined alongside iconic Godzilla creatures. Among the featured pairings are Hello Kitty with Godzilla, Kuromi with Mechagodzilla, My Melody with Mothra, Keroppi with King Ghidorah, Pompompurin with Gigan, Batz-Maru with Rodan, Chococat with SpaceGodzilla, and Cinnamoroll with Destroyah.

Guillaume Huin, McDonald's senior marketing director, expressed enthusiasm for the collection, calling it one of his personal favorites. The collaboration aims to appeal to a broad audience by merging distinct cultural phenomena. Hello Kitty, created by the Japanese company Sanrio in 1974, is a globally recognized character. Godzilla, first appearing in the 1954 Japanese film "Gojira," was later adapted for American audiences in 1956 as "Godzilla, King of the Monsters" and has since starred in several American-produced films.

The "Hello Kitty and Friends x Godzilla" Happy Meal is currently available at participating McDonald's locations. News of the collaboration has generated excitement among fans internationally, with social media users in various regions expressing a desire for the collection to be available in their countries.

This initiative follows previous Happy Meal promotions, such as the "BT21 Universe" collaboration in July. That earlier promotion featured characters co-created by the K-pop group BTS and LINE FRIENDS, offering toys with ring clips and interactive QR codes that allowed fans to engage with the characters through music creation.
