Senator Mitch McConnell, 84, has broken his silence regarding his recent lengthy hospital stay, stating that he suffered a fall that led to a brief period of unconsciousness and subsequent hospitalization on June 14. His office released a statement on Sunday, accompanied by a photograph of the senator, to address speculation about his health.

McConnell clarified that the incident was not a stroke or a heart attack, nor did he suffer any broken bones or a concussion. He also stated that doctors confirmed he has no tumors or hemorrhages. While receiving care, McConnell also dealt with a mild case of pneumonia.

Dispatchers had initially suspected a cardiac event, leading to his hospitalization. The senator's prolonged absence and the initial lack of detailed information from his team fueled considerable public speculation. However, allies, including former aide Scott Jennings and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, have reported speaking with McConnell during his hospital stay.
